SUMMARY:Demystifying space technologies for cities – Urban mobility management\, 23 May 2024
DESCRIPTION:The third session will dive deeper into the application of space technologies and data to solve challenges related to urban mobility management. \nDate and time: Thursday\, 23 May 2024 at 13:00–14:15 CET (12:00 EET)Place: Online. (The Zoom link will be emailed before the event.) Register using the form below (coming soon) \nThis is the third edition of a webinar series organised by the EU project SPACE4Cities. The goal of the webinar series is to increase awareness about the potential of space technologies for cities\, communities and regions in Europe\, provide information on opportunities that space-based technologies could offer to them and explore successful use cases where such technologies are applied to solve cities’ challenges. \nThe webinar will be recorded and made available to registered participants after the webinar. See the full agenda below. People of all backgrounds\, ages and interests are welcome.  \nEvent details \nUrban mobility is a crucial backbone of every city and region as it enables people and goods to move around the city and determines how effectively services can be accessed by their residents. Urban mobility encompasses all modes of transport beyond the car and typically includes walking\, cycling\, and public transportation to shared mobility services and logistics.  \nThe quality and effectiveness of urban mobility that a city offers have a great impact on the quality of life of every resident. Therefore many cities and urban areas prioritise planning of transportation infrastructure and mobility services to ensure they are more sustainable\, accessible and affordable to every resident. \nThis session provides case studies and examples of how cities are leveraging solutions based on satellite technologies\, AI and other advances to ensure that adequate mobility infrastructure and services can be provided. The topics covered include the design of low-emission zones\, deeper insights into the management of car use and parking across cities and the improvement of cycling infrastructure. \nAgenda \n13:00-13:05: Welcome and intro to webinar series (Alex Gluhak\, Open and Agile Smart Cities and Communities)13:05-13:15: “Simplifying the design of low emission zones: A case study from Cartagena”\, John David Babyack Hernández\, Libellium13:15-13:30: “Understanding car use and parking across Nordic Cities”\, Johan Høgåsen-Hallesby\, Beta Mobility13:30-13:45: “Designing better and safer cycling infrastructure in cities ”\, Luca Leomanni\, Social Tech Projects13:45-14:15: Panel discussion with presenters\, Q&A and wrap-up (Moderated by Alex Gluhak\, Open and Agile Smart Cities and Communities) \n \n REGISTER HERE
