Increasingly they are following a district-focused approach to enable solutions to be tailored to the specific characteristics of each local area.  \nWhile the International Energy Agency is promoting the term Positive Energy Districts (PEDs) and there is an extensive program of work under that name promoted by the European Commission\, there are many different ways that cities refer to the approach they are taking. \nThe workshop will feed into a Technology Report that the IEC System Committee Smart Cities is developing to describe the key characteristics of this approach so as to provide a common basis for cities to collaborate and learn from each other. In addition\, by raising the profile of this increasingly common approach by cities to tackle the climate crisis\, this will also alert specialist technical standards committees to the importance of this topic and support an ongoing collaborative approach to delivering the standards needed.  \nWe invite you to join us in fostering collaborative work on global standardization\, reflecting the experience and “first” lessons learned from existing projects.
