SUMMARY:CIP Forum 2019
DESCRIPTION:The 4th CIP Forum will discuss relevant topics at the junction of cybersecurity and smart cities: \n\nSmart Cities Protection and Implications for Protecting Critical Infrastructure\nCritical Infrastructure of Future City\nDigital Transformation of Cities and Implications for Critical Infrastructure Protection\n\nPlease register here. \n\nIn the context of migration and numerous terrorist attacks and the opening of conflict zones the whole world is forced to recalibrate national security strategies and more than that\, common policies to overcome unprecedented dynamics of security-related conflicts and instability. \nNew geopolitical and geostrategic asymmetric threats make it possible to destabilize global\, regional\, European and/or state security. \nThus\, the protection of critical infrastructure is increasingly important and absolutely necessary to assure the safety of the European citizen.\nExisting physical and digital infrastructure are under stress because population growth and face challenges determined cyberattacks\, extreme weather and climate change.

SUMMARY:EIF Workshop on Organisational Interoperability and Public Service Governance
DESCRIPTION:The main objective of this workshop is to gather insights\, practical experience and views from experts and professionals on organisational interoperability and public service governance. SUMMARY:Moving towards Smart Cities: Tackling Urban Challenges Using Technology-Based Solutions
DESCRIPTION:Sustainable development of urban areas is a key challenge. The on-going process of urbanisation is only expected to further increase in the future\, raising new environmental and human challenges. Currently\, 74% of the European Union’s population lives in cities\, as they constitute the main poles of human and economic activity (UN\, 2018). The large urban areas are hubs for innovation\, education and concentrate 53% of the EU GDP\, but remain centres of inequalities and greenhouse gas emissions (Eurostat 2016). However\, the development of user-friendly and efficient information and communication technology (ICT) leads the way to the creation of sustainable\, resilient and responsive cities. \nDelegates will: \n\nDiscuss the concept of Smart City and its practical implementation in the EU\nReflect on the opportunities and challenges posed by the development of ICT\nExplore the implementation of sustainable technologies for transportation and housing\nDetermine ways to modernise urban economy via platforms and Big Data\nDevelop understanding on the importance of digital tools in energy consumption\nLearn how to further include citizens in their city’s decisions making process\nAnalyse existing smart-city projects and share best practice\n\nPlease register here.

SUMMARY:Webinar: Digital Building Blocks for Smart Cities
DESCRIPTION:Dare to rethink your city. Be part of a Smarter Europe. \nPlease register here. \nToday\, we purchase our groceries\, book the next gym class or order a shared car service via a few swipes and taps on our phones. \nWe are increasingly more loyal to and fond of companies that enable these simple\, direct contact points. European public administrations are striving to build Smart Cities to create smarter connections between citizens\, businesses and governments. \nThe European cities Paris\, Amsterdam and Barcelona have been named among the top 10 Smart Cities worldwide. They are transforming their urban environments through technology by using data to connect\, digitalise and make their cities future proof. \nThe European Union can help you transform your city too! \nThe European Commission\, through the CEF Digital programme\, offers eight digital services that can support your digital transformation to a smarter city.\nEvery service is free of charge\, cross-border\, open-source and standard compliant and tested. These services enable smart interactions between citizens\, businesses and public administrations.
