SUMMARY:Natural Language Processing & Data Visualisation: Enhancing Citizen Participation – 11 December 2024
DESCRIPTION:This workshop will explore the fundamentals of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and data visualisation. We will focus on extracting insights from large-scale surveys that use free-form answers in part of their questions (answer boxes where you can type in anything). Participants will learn how to perform basic NLP tasks (like sentimental analysis of text) and data visualisation of text responses and survey answers. \nAll the tools used during these workshops are available for free to EU public administrations through the BDTI platform. You can learn how to apply for BDTI here. \nThe data we will use consists of responses from the city of Vantaa’s annual participation surveys conducted in 2020\, 2021 and 2022. These surveys try to measure the satisfaction\, involvement and influence of citizens in local governance (among other things). You will learn how to use tools available on the BDTI platform to extract and visualise some insights from these responses. \nWhat You’ll Get from This Workshop: \n\nAn understanding of using NLP in translating texts and analysing sentences.\nHands-on experience in analysing survey responses in bulk.\nSkills in managing data storage and processing using Apache Superset\, MongoDB and Jupyter Notebooks.\nA foundational understanding of data visualisation techniques and tools. \n\nWho Should Join?  \nThis workshop is ideal for professionals in market research\, social sciences\, public policy\, and data analysis\, as well as anyone interested in extracting insights from surveys using data visualisation and natural language processing (NLP). It is designed for beginners and does not require prior experience in survey analysis or advanced analytics. Participants looking to apply data-driven techniques to understand survey results better and uncover actionable insights will find this workshop particularly valuable. \n \n REGISTER HERE

SUMMARY:Showcasing innovation panel discussion: EU public administrations' data-driven use cases – 12 December 2024
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an insightful panel discussion on the innovative use cases of data-driven solutions by public administrations across the European Union. This event will highlight examples of data analytics use cases from national\, regional and local governments across the European Union\, focusing on leveraging open data.   \nThese use cases aim to illustrate how data-driven insights\, powered by open data\, can equip governments with the ability to respond quickly to challenges\, improve efficiency\, foster transparency\, and create more effective policies to benefit their citizens.  \nBy reviewing these examples\, public administrations at national\, regional\, and local levels are expected to be inspired to design and implement their own data-driven approaches leveraging the BDTI service offerings.    \nWhat you’ll get from this webinar  \n\nDiverse use cases:  Dive into some diverse use cases of how data can be leveraged to address pressing challenges in public administrations\, from environmental sustainability and transport to urban planning and forestry. \nReal-world applications:  Hear more about how some of the use cases in the inventory were applied in real-world scenarios. \nInspiration for your projects:  Get inspired to harness the power of big data and think about how to use the BDTI platform for your data-driven projects. \nActionable insights:  Learn how to improve decision-making\, resource allocation\, and service delivery through data-driven projects. \n\nWho should join  \nThis webinar is ideal for professionals in public administration and anyone interested in seeing how data can be harnessed to tackle real-life challenges those public administrations face. \n \n REGISTER HERE
