February 13, 2025 – The 1st UN Citiverse Challenge has been launched as a global initiative to design the digital public infrastructure of future cities. Co-organised by International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the United Nations International Computing Centre (UNICC), the International Training Centre of the International Labour Organization (ITCILO), World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the World Bank Group, UN Tourism, the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), Digital Dubai, Open & Agile Smart Cities & Communities (OASC), City of Tampere, City of Valencia and Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, the challenge calls on students and startups to develop solutions in three key areas:
- Access to Public Services
- Sustainability & Resilience
- Tourism & Digital Culture
Winning teams will receive CHF 5,000, global recognition, and the opportunity to contribute to international digital standards.
