During the OASC Conference 2025 in Tampere, Finland, on 22/23 January 2025, OASC policy experts Dr Ivy Yang and Dr Gert Hilgers led multiple Deep Dive sessions on the key aspects of the European AI Act relevant to EU cities and communities. They highlighted three critical areas where cities, at all levels of digital readiness and maturity, should establish a foundational understanding to enhance their ability to navigate the AI Act’s implementation effectively.
- Develop a basic understanding and capacity of the risk levels imposed by the AI Act;
- Become familiar with the governance structure envisaged by the AI Act and its implications;
- Most importantly, proactively develop a local strategy and/or roadmap for navigating the AI Act.
You can download the session recap report here, which provides further insights into the three key areas and share broader reflections.
